AP COMEDY CAMP: YOUTH IMPROV @ THE NEW MOVEMENT
AP Comedy is the youth education branch at The New Movement. Through our in-school programming, out-of-school conservatory classes, mobile workshops, and summer camps, we seek to bring excellent improv arts education to as many young people as possible.
Know a talented youngster who belongs on the stage? Have him/her hone this gift at AP Comedy Camp, a summer improv camp held at The New Movement. A renowned comedy theater and training center, TNM will offer two weeks of comedy camp to aspiring young performers at both our New Orleans and Austin locations.
Each week-long session introduces students to the basics of improv comedy, comedy made up on the spot. In addition to having fun and trying new things, AP Comedy Camp focuses on taking a class of ten to twelve young performers and forming them into a team capable of pulling off a full mainstage improv show. Each day features an open performance hour where friends and family can come and watch their student put on an informal practice show. The week culminates in a final showcase performance held on the TNM mainstage before a packed house of family, friends, and TNM supporters.

GIVE TO CAMP
We aim to make our programming accessible to students of all income levels. We do this by offering scholarships.
In future, these scholarships will be created in part with grant funding. Currently, at this young stage, our scholarships are funded entirely out-of-pocket from the theater and by the generous donations of our supporters who think kids and comedy make a good combo.
We are currently raising funds to offer scholarships to make our AP Comedy improv summer camp accessible to any student who wishes to take it. The cost of a full scholarship is $200. We are attempting to raise enough to offer six of these. Wanna help? Cool. You can use the Paypal link below to throw some bucks in the hat. Let’s team up on this, and make these kids feel like rock stars.
